Wey Valley Students Attended The 'Pride In Place' Programme Launch
Three Year 10 pupils from Wey Valley Academy attended the 'Pride in Place' programme launch at Littlemoor Community Cafe Centre. The Pride in Place Programme is offering up to £2 million every year for the next decade for Littlemoor and Broadwey. A New Neighbourhood Board will decide how the money is best used.
The students from Wey Valley Academy attended the event to interview the candidates who had been selected to lead the project. The pupils Bethany, Serafina and Ellie relayed feedback from their peers at the academy and from the tutor programme from Mr Chutter. All of the students that attended live in either Littlemoor or Broadwey. Bethany said of the event 'I feel that it is imperative that our voices are heard as members of the community - we really need further facilities for the area that will benefit us and our families and future generations'.
The Personal Development Lead at Wey Valley Academy, Mark Chutter said ' the launch was important for the students to meet the candidates to ask how they would use the money and to understand their priorities for the area - local voices are at the heart of the programme and Helen Bramah of Dorset Council will be delivering further sessions with us here at Wey Valley Academy'.
