West Dorset Dance Festival
Year 10 Performing Arts pupils were engaged in an initial workshop delivered by Joey Wormington regarding the West Dorset Dance Festival . For the second year running the festival will be held at Wey Valley Academy on Friday 13th February 2026 in the Will Mackaness Hall. The event involves local primary and feeder schools and this will be led and choreographed by the Year 10 students from the Performing Arts Department at Wey Valley. Joey Wormington said ' the festival is such a fantastic segue and transition between primary and secondary education and dance is the conduit for this'. One Year 10 pupil said 'I am thrilled to be involved in this festival to celebrate dance '. Mark Chutter, Head of Performing Arts, exclaimed ' we are excited to be working in close partnership with our primary feeder schools, and we will relish the opportunity of teaching them here at Wey Valley in Year 7'.
