Singer & Composer Shao Hao Wows Students
Year 10 students at Wey Valley were enamored with the surprise visit of singer and composer Shao Hao. Hao is a 25-year old singer -songwriter from Hangzhou, China. He relocated to London in 2007 as an international emerging artist. Hao explored issues related to mental health, LGBTQ+ and diversity. The style and genre of the music is a blend of Chinese Folk Pop, Western Soul and R and B. He has been inspired by artists such as Stevie Wonder and Tracy Chapman.
Mr Mark Damon Chutter, Head of Performing Arts , organised the afternoon event . Mr Chutter said, 'through the medium of music, Shao conveyed the importance of acceptance around diversity and inclusion - it was an extremely powerful and emotive performance'. One Year 10 student said ' I have been inspired to consider the wider, diverse world and to remember kindness to others'. Another said ' I want to be a singer and this has made me contemplate the power of language through voice'. Mr Chutter said, 'our thanks to Shao for an inspiring afternoon'.
